RHS Gardens Rosemoor
Rosemoor is just over a mile from Great Torrington. Like Kew, Rosemoor is a garden of national importance. A gift to the RHS from Lady Anne Berry over a decade ago, the garden has since been expanded and enhanced.
Elements include:
- A Formal Garden
- Herbaceous Borders
- A Herb Garden
- A Cottage Garden
- A Potager
- A Foliage Garden
- A Plantsman's Garden
- Stream and lakeside plantings
- Mediterranean and semi-tropical plantings
- And wonderful Rose Gardens.
A wide range of lectures, practical demonstrations and guided walks, led by RHS experts, take place at Rosemoor throughout the year.
In addition there is a shop, a self service restaurant serving excellent meals including alcohol, a cafe for light refreshments, a picnic area and a plant centre where plants can be bought and advice obtained.
A day or half a day spent exploring Rosemoor, particularly if it is accompanied by an intake of the excellent food and drink to be had there, is, in my personal experience, a richly rewarding experience. I thoroughly recommend it.
